Accessibility Statement

Last updated October 15, 2026

People looking for a loved one after an arrest come from every background and use every kind of device. We want California Inmate Information Services to work for all of them, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

What we've done

  • Semantic page structure with a single main heading per page and logical heading order.
  • A "Skip to content" link and full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text and background colors chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Descriptive link text, and decorative images hidden from screen readers.
  • A layout that adapts to phones and tablets, and supports browser zoom up to 200% without losing content.
  • Plain-language writing, with legal terms explained the first time they appear.
  • No content that flashes, auto-plays audio, or relies on time limits.

Known limitations

Our guides link to official sheriff, court, and government websites. We don't control those sites, and some of them may not fully meet accessibility standards. If a linked agency site is hard to use, most agencies list an accessibility coordinator or ADA contact on their own website.

Third-party advertisements, where shown, are provided by ad networks and may not always meet the same standards as our own content.

Feedback and help

If you run into a barrier on this site, or need information from a page in a different format, please email info@inmatelocatorservices.com. Tell us the page address and describe the problem. We aim to respond within five business days and to fix confirmed issues as quickly as we can.

Ongoing effort

Accessibility is ongoing work. We review new pages before publishing and periodically test the site with automated tools, keyboard-only navigation, and screen readers.
